M13

"Thought I would include copy of an M13 sked that came up at 2200z on 12216 kHz on May 13, 2002 for those of you who are not familiar with the morse numbers stations or are just plain curious.", says Mark Slaten and jotted down M13's message for you:

Igor tells me that M13 is a rare catch in the Eastern part of Russia.

He heard the station there on 11475 kHz, 0330 UTC, 13 May.

M13d

Another one from Mark Slaten, who is very enthusiastic about M13d and submitted a lengthy message to the group. Thanks for that, Mark. As I mentioned last month, this is a new format, so to get familiar with the format, here is the unedited transcript, commented by Mark in his own words:

"Well, here is a transcription of the M13d sked that I copied this late last evening and into early morning. The 492 group message is there in its entirety with the exception of an occasional missed character. This was mostly caused by the QRM that seemed to hover in and out on top of this sked. Also, some TTY came up for a few brief seconds to obliterate about 2 groups. Note that this is message #266 and that he is using the encryption scheme in which the first two groups are repeated again as the last two groups. It took 1 hour and 40 minutes to send the message the first time and then he began a repeat, at which point I dropped him for further search. So with the repeat, the total sked time should be approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes."

Here repeats the message, and I dropped it for further search.

Note:

Group 104 and 128 sounded like there was an extra "dah" at the beginning of a number. Like 095837 for group 104 and 202080 for group 128. TTY blocked out groups 436, 437 and 438. The only time any TTY was heard. QRM from voice was in and out of background the whole sked."

M21

The Russian Air Defence transmitted on 7088 kHz. This was actually the only log I have seen this month.

This station isn't reported much lately. Trond found it however on 2960 kHz on 10 May at 2337 UTC with "99 60578" and "99 01212". At midnight UTC it changed to a new id "19 19 19", then at 0002 back to "99 01212".

The station is still unid. It was once suggested that this might be the Royal Navy School of Signals, but this was never confirmed.
